The selfish me

As I watch
All my loved ones pass
There is but one dominant thought
They gave me more than I ever sought
Much of what I learned they me taught
They loved me more
More than a lot
I loved them too
But not enough

Who I am

I am what my teachers taught
I learned from foes that I fought

I am what my father dared
I am what my mother cared

I am the counsel of friends so fair
I am the books I stopped and read

I am what the Mother made
I am what strangers, brothers, sisters gave

I am this time
I am this place

I live by love
I live by grace

Who I am I cannot trace

We are here together only for a little while

When my mother passed away I realised that we are here together only for a while. It all now seems like a dream that she was with us till a little while ago.

We don't know how much longer our while together will be.

We crowd our life and mind with things so worthless. All while the time left - to do, to make, to learn, to dream, to play, to dance, to wonder, to grow, to sing, to stare, to laugh, to cry, to be...with some of the most beautiful people in our lives is running out.

I hope God gives me the wisdom to make the most of the times I share with the beautiful people in my life.

The seed and the flower

In the seed lies all possibilities. The flower is the realisation of the utmost of these possibilities.

Your most beautiful self

Under that envy, under that fear, under that sloth, lies hidden your most beautiful self.
Beautiful beyond all imaginations.

Karma Yog

Here is a simple explanation of Karma Yog -

What we do can alter our consciousness (awareness).
What we make or do can alter the consciousness of those around us.
What we do we can do better at higher levels of consciousness.
What we make we can make better at higher levels of consciousness.

Ram against Raavan, that fight goes on

Raavan was bigger, stronger, more powerful, some say more learned and certainly more intelligent (signified by his ten heads).

Raavan and Ram both were knowledgeable about the art and science of the day. Both Ram and Ravan practiced meditation and sadhana.

The difference was that Ram had love in his heart. Raavan... pride.

Ram fought for his people. Raavan for himself.

Raavan thought of Ram as foolish, naïve and weak.

People fought and died for Raavan out of fear and respect.

People fought and died for Ram because they loved him so much.

Ram against Raavan. That fight still goes on amongst us and within us.

Why worry?

The beauty and intelligence in you is a gift
Your success is a result of innumerable contributions
So what is there to be proud of?

That which created the beauty in you is still at work creating ever greater intelligence and grace
That which made the good happen is still at work to make better things happen
So what is there to worry about?

What is there to hold on to?

What is there that waits for you to mend?

Life and entropy

Life is an organising force that acts against the dissipating forces of entropy. It is a force against stagnation and decay.

Two kinds of consciousness

There are two kinds of consciousness - one that wants to own and use that which it likes, another is the one that wants to give itself to and preserve that which it likes.

The first kind is rather common, the second - divine.

Nothing works like working upon oneself

Nothing works like working upon oneself

Our work always begins (or should begin) from working on ourselves no matter what we are about to work on.

All work then becomes easy.

Learning to read

I was explaining to my little daughter how we learn to read- At first the text on a page looks like a confusion of shapes in black on white.
When you learn to recognise the characters, the text on a page begins to appear like a random pattern of characters.
When you learn to recoginse specific patterns of character as words, it begins to take on added meaning.
And as you begin to associate the words with learnings, experiences and feelings it becomes even more meaningful...

So what happens through this process?
What happens is that we begin to build associations and see the interrelationships. We begin to see things in greater and greater completeness.

Nothing changed on the outside. It was our inner development that changed the way we interpreted and experienced the reality of a thousand black marks sprayed on white.

The world is what it is. How we see (experience) it depends on what we are on the inside.

Perhaps the biggest gift that we can give to ourselves is to develop that inner self. Perhaps the biggest gift we can give others is to help them (in whatever way possbile) grow their own inner selves.

Non-Doing

Non-Doing is not Non-action. Non-Doing is not about losing one's self in action. It is about taking appropriate action. It is about Non-Interference with the Natural process. It is about doing only the Necessary and Sufficient. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Akarmeva Moksha - Freedom lies in Non-Doing

The dynamic knowledge

Guru represents the dynamic knowledge - interpreting the enduring knowledge for the changing times and situations.

The Guru is the stream of consciousness flowing through the world, generation to generation; that consciousness’ is God himself.

Om Guru. Guru Om.

Touched by Grace

Her presence fills the room
But I don't see her working by herself in the chair

I can feel her with me everywhere
I look all around but can't find her anywhere

She's closer now than she was before
Though I can't reach out and touch her anymore

I see her in all things beautiful and fair
But can't spot her however long I stare

I lost her somewhere I don't know where
But she comes in with every morning air
To touch me with her loving care

She is the river
She is the cloud now
Once near and small
Without bounds and all around me now
